Holiday Traditions to Start With Your Pets

Dogs are a part of the family. We love them from the time they enter our home, and do our best to give them a life full of joy and peace. One of the best ways to make them feel like part of the family is by including them in your holiday traditions. Just like children, your dogs can be a part of the holiday fun, and make the season even more enjoyable for the entire family.

It is never too late to start new traditions with your pups. Check out these four holiday traditions to bring your furry pals in on the holiday festivities each year:

Pet stockings

Opening presents is one of everyone’s favorite parts of Christmas, including your pets. Have them join in on the holiday fun by placing their own stocking under the tree, stuffed with toys and healthy treats for them to enjoy. This is also a great way to keep the pets distracted during the often hectic Christmas morning.

Holiday movies

Do you have a holiday movie you look forward to watching all year long? Why not make it a tradition to watch it with your pet with a plate of warm cookies and dog treats? If your dog is a snuggler, they are sure to love this tradition off the bat.

Family photos

If you plan annual fall or winter photos, make it a tradition to include all members of the family! Many photographers and even some animal shelters offer holiday photoshoots for pets, which make for excellent Christmas cards.

Hayride or pumpkin patch

The pumpkin patch visit is one of our personal favorite holiday season pastimes, and it only gets better when you bring your furry friends along. Call and ask beforehand to ensure the pumpkin patch in your area is pet-friendly. And, if you’re really in the festive mood, dress your dog up for an adorable fall photo shoot.

Do you have a favorite holiday tradition that isn’t on this list? Comment and let us know what your dog loves best about the holidays!
