Holiday Activities to Do With Your Dog

Most of us dog owners consider our furry friends to be a part of the family. As the holiday season rolls around, we include our pets in the celebrations. We want our pets to be involved in the holiday cheer, whether that’s dressing up for Halloween or sharing in leftover scraps from a delicious Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.

If you’re looking for fun ways to include your pets this holiday season, try one of these three fun holiday activities!

Pumpkin patch

Visits to the pumpkin patch are a fall staple in most rural towns, and many are pet-friendly so long as your dog is well-behaved on a leash. Check with your local farms to see which patches allow dogs, and have fun taking them on an outdoor adventure this year! As the weather cools off, your dog will love the hay rides, the corn mazes, and everything else there is to enjoy in autumn.

Trick or treating

Whether you’re going door-to-door or passing out candy, dressing your dog up for Halloween is guaranteed to be a hit with neighbors. Whether you plan a family theme or simply give them a cute Halloween coat to wear, your pet will be the life of the party in their costume. Many pet stores make costumes for dogs, but you can easily make your own, as well.

Holiday photoshoot

There is nothing cuter around the holidays than seeing your friend’s Christmas cards featuring “photos with Santa” of their children and families. If you want to join in on the holiday fun, plan a holiday photo shoot for your pets instead! Some photographers and even animal shelters will plan pet-themed holiday photos, but you don’t have to have one to take your own. Dress your dog up in a holiday sweater or Santa hat, and enjoy the cutest photos you’ve seen all season!

Jazz’s Wonderland has several holiday themes and events planned for our daycare service. If you’d like to learn more about how we’re getting in the holiday spirit, give us a call or visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.
