Five Fun Fall Activities to do With Your Dog

Autumn is the perfect time to go on an outdoor adventure with your dogs. As the weather cools off a bit, your dogs can enjoy the outdoors for longer without becoming overheated. Plus, in Florida, autumn is typically considered the off-season, which means the parks will be less crowded and you can find reservations for campsites and outdoor activities much more easily.

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the weekend with your fur babies, try one of these fall activities:

Hiking

Florida is home to many incredible state parks and nature preserves which are often only a short drive away. Hiking on one of Florida’s many nature trails is engaging for your dog and great exercise if they are in good shape. If your dog is older, has mobility issues, or is a smaller breed, you can choose shorter nature trails in local parks to ensure they have a fun and safe time on your hike.

Camping

Camping is one of the most enjoyable activities to do in the Florida autumn. The weather cools off enough for you and your dogs to enjoy the days but is still warm enough that you won’t freeze at night. Camping can be a great way to relax and unplug with your dog. And, you don’t need a camper in order to enjoy it – car camping and tent camping are just as easy with a dog if you plan ahead and invest in the right camping gear

Trick or Treating

Does your dog love meeting new people and playing with kids? Why not take them along trick-or-treating, or dress them up to greet people at the door on Halloween night? Dog costumes are easy to make and allow your pup to be a part of the fun. For ideas on how to make your own doggy Halloween costume this year, click here

Tailgating

Football season is also in full swing, which means you can bring your dog along to tailgate parties and other football events in your neighborhood. Whether you live in a college town or simply want to have some friends over to grill out and watch the game, don’t be afraid to bring the dog along for all the fun.

Pumpkin patch or corn maze

Nothing feels more like fall than visiting a pumpkin patch or corn maze for the day. Most of these are pet-friendly and include activities such as hay rides that you and your dog can enjoy. Plus, you’ll be able to pick out pumpkins for carving and other fall vegetables to enjoy with the family.
